Our
Mission
Our
Conflict Resolution Programme seeks to create broad awareness for peaceful,
co-operative, non-violent responses to conflict and provide practical
assistance to institutions, communities, groups and individuals in the
application of such responses. Central to our mission is the empowerment
of people through training and skills development.
Our Methodology
A Praxis-Theory model in which action and reflection go hand in hand
in enabling constructive and appropriate responses to conflicts guides
our Conflict Resolution work.
IN THIS WE ENVISION
-
Nurturing processes
and structures that enable people to respectfully share and listen
to different perspectives;
- Strengthening processes that
recognize, accept and celebrate people’s diversity whether individual,
ethnic, linguistic, religious, political, cultural or any other kind;
- Building relationships
between people of diverse backgrounds and beliefs as a crucial element
to enrich our human experience and live in harmony;
- Encouraging and assisting
in the rediscovery and dissemination of traditional and indigenous
forms of conflict resolution as resources that will inform and strengthen
peace initiatives;
- Assisting people to see peace
work in its many dimensions from cultivation of positive values, orientations
and attitudes, to the design and implementation of methods, mechanisms,
structures, institutions and skills that help in strengthening peaceful
relationships amongst people;
- Networking
and encouraging collaboration between individuals, community-based
organizations, religious groups, ecumenical networks, governmental
and non-governmental organizations, academic and educational institutions,
and other people and groups lobbying for peace with justice in a variety
of contexts.
