Since 1996, HMI’s Conflict Resolution Programme engages communities, religious and secular organizations, non-governmental and community-based organizations, governmental bodies and educational institutes as a facilitating companion in their journeys towards peaceful transformation and resolution of conflicts. We assist individuals and organizations to gain understanding and skills in processes that help in peaceful transformation or resolution of conflicts. Our work can be broadly categorized as follows:

  • Undertaking peace initiatives for the promotion of reconciliation and healing between  conflicting groups or communities;
  • Supporting peace initiatives at local, regional, national and international levels by providing facilitation and other processes that assist people engaged in conflict to work on ways that move things in a positive direction;
  • Building and nurturing the capacity and skills of peace workers through participatory workshops, mentoring and support;
  • Focusing on gender–based perspectives on peace and conflict;
  • Aiming for better understanding of conflicts in South Asia and providing for a for reflection through workshops, conferences and consultations;
  • Accompanying communities, organizations and individuals in developing strategies and infrastructures which build leadership, promote teamwork and cultivate peace;
