Ph.D. Programmes

HMI collaborates with the Frije University, Amsterdam and other institutions in offering a Ph.D. in Islam in Asia and Christian-Muslim relations. Students enrol at their degree-granting institution and then come to HMI to conduct their research. HMI's doctoral programme lasts for three years full-time or six years part-time. During the first academic year the student will take two research seminars and by the end of the first academic year will submit the thesis topic. The remaining years are devoted to the thesis and regular contact with supervisors.
