External Courses
On a regular basis, seminaries, colleges and institutions request HMI to provide instruction in Islamic Studies as part of their courses. St. Charles Seminary (Nagpur), Satyodayam (Hyderabad), Kripalaya (Mysore), Ishvani Kendra (Pune), Franciscan Institute of Spirituality (Bangalore), Folklore Resources Research Centre (Kerala), St. Joseph's Seminary (Mangalore), Gurukul Lutheran Theological College and Research Institute, are some of the institutions that have availed themselves of this opportunity in the recent past.
Over the years, HMI has built up strong academic relations with institutions abroad as well. With regular requests being received to offer lectures or conduct introductory or specialised courses in Islamic Studies, HMI faculty members have provided instruction on specified topics. These institutions include Crowther Hall - Church Mission Society, Church of Scotland, Luther Seminary, Church of Sweden Mission, Lund University, and Middle Eastern Council of Churches. HMI, as the only research institution of its kind in Asia, is exploring ways to make its research facilities and faculty expertise more readily available to seminaries and colleges in Asia and Africa. To do so, HMI plans to develop and advertise more extensively additional specialised courses in Islam, Interfaith Relations and Reconciliation that HMI can hold at seminaries, colleges and universities in India and overseas. |
